Time Out of Mind!

In 2005 I did the sound design and music for Doctor Who - Unregenerate!  by David McIntee. It starred Sylvester McCoy as the Doctor and Bonnie Langford as Mel and is set between Time and the Rani and Paradise Towers during Season 24 of Doctor Who (the one after the one when normal people stopped watching for about twenty years). Not as epic as The Time of the Daleks, or as wonderfully woozy as The Wormery, but full of its own challenges, not least being my first full music score for Big Finish.

Listen out for my secret cameos as lunatic on a wheel, deliberately near inaudible taxi firm receptionist ('Bab's Cabs' fact fans), bad singer on car radio, and half the gurgly monsters in an alien city.   I played it back the other day, and my work on it isn't as bad as I recalled (except the plinky piano bits which were really not needed at all, particularly not the one in episode 1 which ends up in the wrong place after a scene was tightened up).

My one big failure I feel is in the gestalt creature Shokhra played by two actors who weren't always exactly in synch (or indeed always saying all the lines!),  I did my best to tidy the performances up and double up and treat one voice when the other was missing but I wish now I'd had the courage to add my own voice in the mix now to help smooth the problem areas out and provide a stable third voice so it wouldn't be so problematic when either of the others disappeared entirely!
